Location: Makani Center Sweileh / Jordan
Reach: 52 Children
Year: 2017
Project number thirteen took place at Makani Center Sweileh which is a safe space created to offer informal education, teach life skills and give psycho-social support to refugee and local children across Jordan.
We introduced storytelling for the first time to our mission in this project. Amal is the Arabic word for hope, and we kick started this project with a story about a girl called Amal who is inspired to pursue her dreams regardless of the obstacles and difficulties that may face her in her life.
Then we did an art workshop with the children where each child drew his/her dream and presented it to the whole class.
After a couple of weeks our team went back to the Makani center and painted the dreams of the children with them, on the walls of their class rooms to serve as a reminder and an inspiration for them to persist towards achieving their goals and dreams in life.
This project was implemented in collaboration with Save the Children and Zain Telecommunications.
